In a bid to promote healthy, tasty and nutritious school meals, Foodservice Options invited schools in the Derbyshire area, to spend an afternoon with a host of leading food and beverage suppliers. The event was held at the Pride Park stadium in Derby and a select group of suppliers were able to showcase new products, provide tastings and samples as well as demonstrate new menu ideas to catering and business managers from the local area.
A large number of local schools were in attendance and Ravi, a local catering manager said:
“This is a great local event which gave me the chance to see what’s out there in terms of new products and new menu ideas. Overall there was a lot of useful information for me to take away and it was good to speak to the suppliers face to face about their products. Really worthwhile to attend!”
The event covered everything from vegetarian and vegan recipes, organic and gluten free options including deserts and red tractor products. Schools were rewarded for their attendance with plenty of giveaways on the day.
The UK Foodhall, a supplier at the event said; “These types of events are fantastic because they give us an opportunity to speak with the catering manager face to face about best practices with our products, nutrition, new ideas and much more!”
Attendees also had the chance to speak to the FSO support services team to gain insight on best practice and advice when it comes to food safety, kitchen audits and kitchen equipment.
